julian roberts- subtraction cutting

yesterday i was lucky enough to go to a one off event with the designer Julian Roberts. he's developed a new pattern cutting method, called subtraction cutting, where you look at clothing from a completely different perspective, as we always seem to look at clothes from the front. he also highlights the idea of the negative space, how we occupy the clothing and that everything we wear is tubular: trousers, skirts, tops, sleeves, dresses etc.

& here are the results...

(my dress is the navy and stripy one)

charity shop challenge- the final

well, my charity shop outfit made it to the final five (yay!) but didnt win (boo!)
but still, it was really cool to see it on a professional model in a catwalk show (and she definately modelled it better than i did!)
and the plus side is that i get to keep that amazing jacket!
p.s. the photos are a bit pants because i used my rubbish camera and the lighting wasnt very good, sorry everyone!

just a quick note...

to say that my thoughts are with the people of Japan at this very difficult time.
i met so many amazing people during my trip to Japan 3 months ago and was completely inspired by the country and the people.
so i am dedicating my favourite photo, from the entire trip, to everyone that may have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

charity shop challenge

there are loads of things going on for 'bath in fashion' which is coming up soon and one of the events is the charity shop challenge, which involves hunting for stylish garments in baths charity shops, all for under £20. So here is my (hopefully winning) entry!

pink bus?

i have no idea what this about... but there appears to be a rather large pink, double decker bus in Bath centre, crammed with toys & other crap, complete with Darth Vader stood in the doorway.
i thought the homeless looking chaps only added to the composition.

FAD- Vauxhall Fashion Scout

Last Tuesday i was lucky enough to attend the Fashion Awareness Direct show in Covent Garden. It runs as a part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout, during London Fashion Week.

I was there to support the lovely Emily Booker, who i did some knitting for a couple of months ago. It was so exciting to finally see my knitting on the catwalk! And the garments did not disappoint, they looked absolutely stunning!
Of course my opinion will be slightly biased, but overall i thought Emily's garments were the most eye-catching and innovative. Talking to a couple of members of the audience after the show, they said that they were surprise Emily was not in the top 3.

But a big congratulations to Milly Jackson, who won the £2000 cash prize and a placement with Whistles.
